Simple Homemade Elderberry Gummies
Elderberry gummies are a delicious and natural way to boost yours or your child’s immune system. I like to take our elderberry syrup recipe and make these gummies as an easy way to give my children additional vitamins – especially during peak times of seasonal illnesses.
Ingredients
Elderberry Syrup: For this elderberry gummies recipe, I’ve made it simple with only two ingredients. First you will need elderberry syrup as the base. I make ours from dried elderberries, but you could also use a store-bought elderberry syrup if you prefer. Get the homemade elderberry syrup recipe here or try our recommended pre-made version with added echinacea, vitamin c, and zinc.
Grass-fed Beef Gelatin: Any gelatin powder should work, however, I prefer the added benefits of this grass-fed beef gelatin <— great for gut health & a great source of absorbable protein. We use it for so many things like this recipe and also our healthy homemade marshmallows.
You’ll also need something to dust the gummies with to prevent mold. I like to use arrowroot powder, but cornstarch or powdered sugar would also work.
Tools you’ll need for this recipe
Instructions
First, begin by combining elderberry syrup at room temperature with the gelatin in a small mixing bowl. Whisk in the hot water (around 105° F) until well combined.
Quickly add the elderberry mixture to molds using one of the droppers. The gummies will begin to set at room temperature so it’s important to work quickly.
I like to use a baking sheet under the silicone molds while adding the gummy mixture. This makes transferring them to the refrigerator super easy.
Move the gummies to the fridge for 1-2 hours, or until set.
When finished, lightly coat or dust the gummies in arrowroot powder (my preference), cornstarch, or powdered sugar.

How to store elderberry gummies
Store finished elderberry gummies in an airtight container inside of the refrigerator for up to 1 month. I like to keep our homemade gummies in small mason jars with plastic lids for ease of use and storage.
FAQ (frequently asked questions)
Because elderberry may stimulate the immune system, it could interact or interfere with some medications. Such as those taken to suppress the immune system. It is always advisable to seek advice from your healthcare provider.
This can vary based off of the recipe and age. For this recipe, using the molds recommended; children take 1-2 per day. Adults may take up to 3 of the smaller size or 1 of the larger sizes (heart shaped mold) per day. Again, seek the advice of your healthcare provider.
