What you’ll love about this gnocchi recipe:
Substitutions
- We always recommend using fresh shredded or grated Parmesan cheese in our recipes. Freshly grated Parmesan has more flavor and melts down better, but bottled Parmesan can be used in a pinch.
- If you have fresh garlic on hand then you can use two cloves of freshly minced garlic instead of garlic powder. This will add a sharper flavor to your pasta. If you are using fresh garlic then you’ll want to cook it over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil for just a couple of minutes to help release the flavor.
- For some extra spice you can add extra adobo sauce or chipotle peppers. You can also add cayenne chili powder or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
Instructions
Set aside 2 tablespoons of adobo sauce as well as 2 chipotle peppers. Use a knife to finely chop the chipotle peppers.
Prepare your gnocchi according to the package directions. Add the uncooked gnocchi to boiling salted water over medium-high heat. Drain the cooked gnocchi and set aside.
Note: Don’t forget to add salt to your large pot of water before cooking pasta!
Whisk together the heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, adobo sauce, and chipotle peppers in a large pan or skillet. Stir the ingredients over medium heat for 5 minutes.
Add the parmesan cheese and continue stirring the sauce for an additional 10 minutes.
Fold the cooked gnocchi into the chipotle cream sauce. Make sure that the gnocchi is evenly coated in the sauce.
Serve and enjoy!
