Favorite Clean & Non-Toxic Makeup (Great For Sensitive Eyes)
I don’t know about you, but it has always been a struggle to find clean & non-toxic makeup that I truly loved + worked well!
Over the years, there have been many brands coming on to the scene with clean ingredients. However, no matter which brands I’ve tried, I struggled with finding something for my ultra sensitive eyes.
Now slight caveat — I don’t wear a full face of makeup every single day. But I like to wear a minimal amount of natural makeup and more so for special events, etc.
Plus, my husband appreciates it as well! 🫶🏻
In my hunt, I researched a ton of brands and tested out many different makeup brands, but my eyes just could not tolerate them. And wasted a ton of money in the process.
In this blog post, I’m sharing my favorite clean makeup products that don’t affect my super sensitive eyes. This post is not sponsored, I’m just sharing my results and I hope that it is helpful to those of you who also have this struggle.
What is Clean & Non Toxic Makeup + Why it Matters

Safe Synthetics: Some clean makeup brands may use synthetic ingredients, but these are carefully chosen to be safe and non-toxic.
Environmental and Ethical Considerations
Sustainably Sourced: Ingredients are sourced in a way that respects the environment, including responsible farming practices and avoiding over-harvesting.
Cruelty-Free: Products are not tested on animals, and many brands are certified by organizations like Leaping Bunny or PETA.

Ingredient Transparency: Brands typically list all ingredients on their products and avoid vague terms like “fragrance” or “parfum,” which can hide a mix of undisclosed chemicals.

Clean makeup aims to perform just as well as conventional makeup, offering good coverage, longevity, and a range of shades, without compromising safety.
Common Harmful Ingredients to Avoid:
- Parabens: Preservatives that can disrupt hormones.
- Phthalates: Often used in fragrances, linked to hormone disruption.
- Formaldehyde-Releasing Agents: Preservatives that can cause irritation and have been linked to c*ncer.
- Synthetic Fragrances: Can contain undisclosed chemicals that may cause allergies or hormone disruption.
- Talc: Sometimes contaminated with asbestos, a known carcinogen.
- Heavy Metals: Such as lead in some lipsticks, which can be toxic.

ILIA Beauty Serum Skin Tint
These serums and skin tints give a luscious glow and dewy looking skin. This is the first brand that has worked for my ultra sensitive eyes.

ILIA – Chromatic Liquid Powder Eye Tint
Not only are these eye tints clean + non-toxic, they are long lasting too. They’ve been able to withstand my busy homemaking, homesteading, gardening, mom work!
I especially like the shades “Aura”, “Glaze”, and “Dove”.

Honest Beauty Concealer
This concealer is great and blends smooth, and is buildable for ultimate coverage. It has been a great pairing with the skin tint for lightweight makeup.
Clean Eyeliner & Mascaras
Finding non-toxic + clean eyeliners and mascaras was especially difficult for me. But once the other ILIA and Honest Beauty products worked well for my sensitive eyes, I found the eye products (shown below) to equally work well for me.
